The latest with Kainoa... he is sick. This past Friday morning, we were at our photographer's studio when he started acting really lethargic and fussy. He actually fell asleep in my arms which he hasn't done in months, so I thought either he wasn't feeling well or the first week of him attempting one nap a day was finally catching up to him. (That's a whole other post!) By the time we got home, Kai felt really hot and his cheeks were flushed, so I took his temperature and it was 102.8! Ever since, we have been monitoring him carefully, giving him meds to help lower his fever, lots of liquids, and have been into the doctor's office Saturday, today (Sunday) and have an appointment to go back tomorrow. They checked for strep and ear infections, which he has neither. But the doctor did find that his blood count was elevated showing some type of internal infection. Kainoa was given a shot of antibiotic yesterday, and a second shot today. It's awful to see his little face cringe in pain and big crocodile tears roll down his cheeks as the pain from the shot sets in. I feel like crying along with him. But he is such a resilient little boy and within minutes is back to smiles. Even when he is sick, he is good-natured and tough. Please say a little prayer that this passes quickly for him.
A piece of exciting news... our great friends, Meg and Rob, who we just visited in Nashville, welcomed their new BABY BOY into the world on Friday, February 20 at 6:00pm. His name is Charles Robert Vlach and both mom and baby are doing fantastic! We are anxiously awaiting pictures and new details about this little miracle. Congrats to the Vlach Family and WELCOME CHARLIE!!! Kainoa can't wait to play with his new little buddy!
